Christin Ansley, Camp DirectorTown North Family YMCA "The greatest thing about summer camp is simply getting outside. There is something about the outdoors that brings out the best in people. I believe kids thrive at Day Camp because nature provides so many opportunities. If you want to relax and simply soak in the sun you can do that, and if you want to feel the wind and the spray of water on your face, you can go tubing behind a boat. Summer Camp is an especially exciting time of the year for me, because I love watching kids make new friends and take on new challenges. Camp gets kids away from video games and cell phones, and teaches them to interact with each other." Christin Ansley brings 16 years of YMCA experience to YMCA Camp on the Lake. She has done everything from Fundraising to Child Care, but found her true passion when she began working at Camp and running the Adventure Guides Program. Christin has served as Camp Director at both YMCA Camp Kiwanis and YMCA Camp T'Sungani and has been recognized for both her organizational and relationship building skills. I enjoy seeing the expressions on their faces when they shoot their first bulls-eye in archery or figure out how to make their own lanyard. Each camper will head home eagerly waiting for the next camp day and all the fun that comes with it. Camp is the place where kids can try new things, be themselves and really grow as a person. The experiences and values that children get from a YMCA summer day camp experience are things they will stay with them forever.” Jeff Hull has facilitated summer camp experiences for 13 years. He’s worked with the YMCA for 10 years starting as a camp counselor and now a Family Program Director, responsible for the summer day camp programs at Park Cities YMCA. Jeff has received the Directors certification from the YMCA as well as numerous awards for his dedication to kids and their experience at the Y. Our newly redesigned Camp on the Lake (previously T'Sungani) once was a day camp program that was only offered for participants from the Town North YMCA. By pooling resources with Park Cities, Cross Timbers and Coppell YMCAs we have totally redesigned the camp program and improved the overall experience of our campers. The secret to a great camp experience is camp staff, and I think you'll appreciate the expertise and dedication of our camp staff. We pride ourselves on our careful screening and selection of staff and employ some of the finest camp Directors, Counselors, and support staff in the area. In addition, we continuously review our health and safety policies to ensure the well-being of each child. Learn more about the Directors over YMCA Camp on the Lake by reading their bios below and I hope to see you at camp." Mark Straubel joined the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas as the Executive Director of the Town North Family YMCA in 2003. He is currently the Vice-President of Operations over five YMCAs and YMCA Camp on the Lake. Mark is no stranger to the camp world as he has had over 18 years of management and operations experience, which makes him an invaluable leader and resource to the Directors at COL. Mark and his wife, Colleen, have three children (all of whom are alumni of Camp on the Lake). Mark earned his BS and Master of Physical Education degrees from Springfield College. |
